Volleyball Game Preview: Chatfield Gophers vs. Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars

The Chatfield Gophers will take on the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Chatfield is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

On Thursday, Chatfield got the win against Blooming Prairie by a conclusive 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-8, 25-16.

Chatfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hannah Tweten, who had nine digs and three aces. That's the most aces Tweten has posted since back in September.

Meanwhile, Zumbrota-Mazeppa was able to grind out a solid victory over Cannon Falls on Thursday, taking the game 3-1. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bombers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-9, 21-25, 29-27.

Chatfield's win bumped their record up to 22-7. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14.

Chatfield took their win against Zumbrota-Mazeppa in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Gophers repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
