Basketball Recap: Hawthorne Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Hawthorne had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hasbrouck Heights Aviators. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 53-34 to the Aviators when the teams met back in January of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Hawthorne lost, don't look at Alfonso Coba. Despite the final result, he posted eight points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Uriel Acosta, who put up 11 points.

Looking ahead, Hawthorne will take on Eastern Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hasbrouck Heights, they will face off against Elmwood Park at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
