Volleyball Recap: Meigs Marauders vs. River Valley Raiders

Meigs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They fell just short of the River Valley Raiders by a score of 3-2. The Marauders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Meigs sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 17-25, 25-9, 23-25, 15-12.

Despite the defeat, Meigs saw an underclassman step up: Marlee Laudermilt had 15 digs and three aces. Laudermilt is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in the last three games she's played.

Even though they lost, Meigs was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last nine contests.

Meigs' record is now 1-21. As for River Valley, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-18.

Meigs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for River Valley, they are taking a road trip to challenge Huntington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Huntington will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something River Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
