The Maine South Hawks will face off against the Loyola Academy Ramblers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Maine South comes in on four and Loyola Academy on 26.

Maine South is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Glenbrook South 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since December 29, 2023.

Glenbrook North typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Loyola Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 46-40 victory over the Spartans. Given the Ramblers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh in Illinois, while the Spartans are ranked 53rd in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Loyola Academy pushed their record up to 32-2 with the win, which was their 23rd straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Maine South, their victory bumped their record up to 25-9.

Maine South came up short against Loyola Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 53-47. Can Maine South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
