Softball Recap: Point Pleasant Beach Gets the Win

After losing to Manchester Township the last time they met, Point Pleasant Beach decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Garnet Gulls had just enough and edged out the Hawks 4-2.

Lucia Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gia Gates was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Derasmo, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Point Pleasant Beach's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Manchester Township, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Coming up, Point Pleasant Beach is taking a road trip to take on Trinity Hall at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Point Pleasant Beach's pitchers better be ready for this one: Trinity Hall has averaged an impressive 10.9 runs per game this season. As for Manchester Township, they will host Brick Township at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
