Softball Game Preview: Westmoreland Eagles vs. Lancaster Red Devils

The Westmoreland Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Lancaster Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westmoreland has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 27.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Westmoreland and Rappahannock, and Rappahannock kept the tradition alive. The Eagles might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-7 to the Raiders, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Lancaster owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Essex 1-0. That's two games straight that the Red Devils have won by just one run.

Lancaster's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Westmoreland, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Westmoreland suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Lancaster in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
