Basketball Recap: Cottondale's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It was a good run, but Cottondale unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks 59-55. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 55-39 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tramond Collins, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trashonn Collins, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 20 points.

Zay Jenkins was his usual excellent self, putting up 17 points in addition to six boards and five assists for Port St. Joe. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Harris, who posted 13 points.

Cottondale's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Port St. Joe, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cottondale will face off against Chipley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cottondale's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. As for Port St. Joe, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bethlehem at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Port St. Joe has won three straight at home, while Bethlehem won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
