Soccer Game Preview: Richmond vs. Livermore

The Richmond Oilers will square off against the Livermore Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Richmond will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Richmond gave up the first goal last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Pinole Valley by a score of 3-1. Given the Oilers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Spartans are ranked 490th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Livermore didn't have quite enough to beat San Ramon Valley on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Cowboys haven't had much luck with Wolves recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Trevor Crouch and Mason Franks scored both of Livermore's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Richmond's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three matches. As for Livermore, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5-2.

Richmond took their win against Livermore when the teams last played back in February of 2019 by a conclusive 3-0. Will Richmond repeat their success, or does Livermore have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
