Baseball Recap: Sierra Vista Beats Desert Pines for Their Eighth Straight Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sierra Vista). They blew past the Desert Pines Jaguars 20-0 on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Mountain Lions sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

The team relied heavily on Dillon Smith, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Owen Angelo was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Sierra Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sierra Vista pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Desert Pines, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sierra Vista will challenge Legacy at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Desert Pines, they will square off against Mater Academy East Las Vegas at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
