Basketball Recap: Marietta Blue Devils vs. Cherokee Warriors        
        
		
             Marietta won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune  on Friday. They came up short against  the Cherokee Warriors, falling  71-49. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings  (they are ranked 77th, while the Warriors are ranked fifth).
 Marietta's  loss shouldn't obscure the performances of  Leah DeWitt, who  almost  dropped  a double-double on 23 points and nine  rebounds, and  Kyann Senior, who  dropped  a double-double on 13 points and 19  rebounds. That was a full 46.9% of Marietta's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's   earned  more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Mckenzie Everett, who  scored ten points in addition to seven  rebounds.
 Even though they lost, Marietta  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 21  offensive rebounds. That's the most  offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.
 Marietta dropped their record down to 5-3 with the  defeat, which was their fifth straight  on the road dating back to last season. As for Cherokee, the  victory was  the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
 Marietta won't have much time to rest: their next  game is against Murray County  at 3:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Murray County will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  win, something Marietta surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cherokee, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll  face off against  West Forsyth  at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
