Baseball Recap: Saratoga Has No Trouble Against Lynbrook

Saratoga's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Lynbrook Vikings. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Brandon Chen made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Saratoga's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 0-5 when he doesn't). Chen was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those hits were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Doug Bettinger was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Saratoga is 2-1 when Bettinger posts two or more runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Eli Safine was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Saratoga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

The win snapped Saratoga's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-6 record. As for Lynbrook, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
