Basketball Recap: Easley Green Wave vs. Mauldin Mavericks

Easley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a blow against the Mauldin Mavericks, falling 68-29. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Green Wave this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-27 on January 7th.

Destiny Mattison was a one-woman wrecking crew for Mauldin as she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Mattison a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jalaila Ligon, who posted eight points and five steals.

Easley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Mauldin, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Easley will venture away from home to take on Hillcrest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Easley is facing Hillcrest at the right time seeing as Hillcrest is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Mauldin, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 41-24 win against Woodmont on the 29th.
