Baseball Game Preview: Charleroi Cougars vs. Serra Catholic Eagles

The Charleroi Cougars will challenge the Serra Catholic Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Charleroi took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Waynesburg Central 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since May 5, 2025.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Serra Catholic). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Sewickley Academy on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won four contests in a row.

Jake Jellison made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cole Hann was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jake Anderson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Serra Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Charleroi's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Serra Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.
