Basketball Recap: Arthur County Takes a Loss

Arthur County's last matchup with South Platte could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Arthur County Wolves were outmatched by the South Platte Blue Knights and fell 66-36. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Blue Knights: they've now lost five in a row.

Arthur County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kegan Allen, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Storer, who posted eight points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Arthur County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Platte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nathan Jacobs, who went 8-for-13 en route to 16 points and seven boards. The dominant performance also gave Jacobs a new career-high in assists (two). Quinten Koenen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Arthur County's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for South Platte, their record is now 11-8.

Arthur County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-26 win against Sioux County on the 13th. As for South Platte, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-40 defeat against Paxton on the 8th.
