American Fork hasn't had much luck against Skyridge recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cavemen will square off against the Falcons at 3:30 p.m.
American Fork is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Cedar.
Mazie Walters spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, American Fork saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Jensen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Skyridge posted their closest victory since March 21, 2024 on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past Weber 6-5. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Peyton Hall was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Mia Hess was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Skyridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Skyridge pushed their record up to 10-13 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for American Fork, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. American Fork hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Skyridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
American Fork came up short against Skyridge in their previous meeting on April 10th, falling 5-2. Can the Cavemen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
