Baseball Recap: Bayfield Starts Season with Win on the Road

Bayfield had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Shiprock Chieftains on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-4.

Bayfield let Noah Anderson and Tavian Box run wild. Anderson scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Box scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Box a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cameron Queen, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Shiprock's loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Bayfield didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 defeat against Montrose on the 21st. As for Shiprock, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 19-6 victory against Dove Creek on the 14th.
