Basketball Recap: Caleb Schmitt Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Pine View's strategy against Snow Canyon on Wednesday. The Pine View Panthers enjoyed a cozy 60-43 win over the Snow Canyon Warriors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-49 back in December of 2024.

Pine View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Schmitt, who went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Those three steals gave Schmitt a new career-high. Jelani Odjegba was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points and five boards.

Pine View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Snow Canyon only pulled down four offensive boards.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joseph Smith, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gil Lamoreaux, who had seven points.

The victory made it two in a row for Pine View and bumps their season record up to 13-6. As for Snow Canyon, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Pine View has already played their next contest, a 55-51 defeat against Dixie on the 31st. As for Snow Canyon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-49 win against Cedar on the 31st.
