Softball Recap: Gallatin Starts off Right with Win over Pope John Paul II

Gallatin took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They walked away with a 16-11 win over the Pope John Paul II Knights. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Green Wave as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Gallatin let Avery Conger and Bailey Daughtry run wild. Conger scored three runs while going 4-for-5, while Daughtry scored three runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Morgan Baskerville, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gallatin is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will square off against Westmoreland at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pope John Paul II, they will take on Northeast at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pope John Paul II is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
