Recap: Yuba City Honkers vs. River Valley Falcons
The Yuba City Honkers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 57-47 to River Valley. Yuba City was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as River Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Yuba City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Abhi Mehata, who scored 15 points. Mehata continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Anthony Medina was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Yuba City struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
River Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Yuvraj Dosanjh, who scored 15 points along with two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Munneth Gill, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Yuba City has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for River Valley, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-15.
Yuba City will take on Chico at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chico is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for River Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Inderkum at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Inderkum's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
