Recap: Seymour Panthers vs. Windthorst Trojans
It was a good run, but The Seymour Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Windthorst on the road and fell 54-22. Seymour was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Windthorst apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the loss, Seymour still got an impressive performance from Brayden Loyd, who threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown. Brason Zeissel was another key contributor, picking up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Windthorst's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brock Belcher led the charge by rushing for 127 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Windthorst also got help from Kolby Teakell who showed off his sure hands for 98 receiving yards.
Windthorst's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Drew Anderle and his 2.5 sacks.
Seymour's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Windthorst, their win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Seymour will take on Petrolia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Petrolia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1058th, while Seymour is ranked 498th). As for Windthorst, they will head out on the road to face off against Electra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Electra is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
