Baseball Recap: Francis Parker Takes a Loss

Francis Parker had lost six straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 6-13-1 to make it seven. They fell 13-10 to the Kearny Komets. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Komets earlier this season, when they won 16-1.

Logan Manalong led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Spencer Perry, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

As for Kearny, their win bumped their record up to 9-14. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Kearny's side, they got a massive performance out of Nicolas Hembera, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and one triple. Those five runs gave Hembera a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Francis Parker will head out to challenge Bishop's at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Kearny, they will challenge Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Komets surely won't give up without a fight.
