Volleyball Recap: Leander's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Leander can now relate to. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Smithson Valley Rangers on Thursday. The Lions were not able to make up for their loss to the Rangers from their previous meeting back in August of 2016.

Leander couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Smithson Valley a tough time in the second set. The final score came out to 25-15, 28-30, 25-21, 25-14.

Berkley Bates had a dynamite game For Smithson Valley., getting 52 digs and five assists. Those 52 digs gave Bates a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Fuentes, who had eight digs and two aces.

Leander moved to 25-21 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Smithson Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 28-14.

As of now, neither Leander nor the Rangers have any future games scheduled.
