Football Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

After flying high against Urbana on Wednesday, Centennial came back down to earth. The Chargers were outmatched by the Richwoods Knights and fell 45-18. The matchup was a 18-18 toss-up at halftime, but the Chargers couldn't quite close it out.

Leading Richwoods to victory were Acosia Morris and Jaydah Green. Morris rushed for 301 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries, while Green rushed for 202 yards and four scores on only 11 carries. Green's longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Richwoods, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Centennial will be playing in front of their home fans against Mahomet-Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Richwoods, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 38-22 victory against Champaign Central on the 20th.
