Basketball Recap: Dylan Thornton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Salem over Loyd Star

Salem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 30th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 50-39 to the Loyd Star Hornets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-31 last Thursday.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Thornton, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 13 points. Thornton has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Ty Bridges was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

Salem's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Loyd Star, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Salem will take on Amite County in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at. As for Loyd Star, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against North Pike at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
