Football Recap: Friday's Victory Is West Valley's Fourth in Last Five Outings + How To Watch

West Valley won the last time they faced Central Valley and Gunner Church did his part to make sure it happened again. The Eagles blew past the Falcons, posting a 48-20 victory with plenty of help from Church, who rushed for 158 yards and two TDs on only five carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Kale Springer was another key player, rushing for 54 yards and one score on only six carries. His passing game has become a key predictor of West Valley's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Despite the loss, Central Valley still got an impressive performance from Aj Johnson, who rushed for 167 yards. Johnson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 167 rushing yards.

West Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.0 points over those games. As for Central Valley, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Chayce Reed and Dowan Stephens. Meanwhile, Central Valley will take on rival Yreka at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
