West Valley's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Yreka on Friday. The Eagles claimed a resounding 48-20 win over the Central Valley Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by 24 points or more so far this season.

Gunner Church was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and one score. His longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Kale Springer, who rushed for 54 yards and one TD on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 356 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 245 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Central Valley still got an impressive performance from Aj Johnson, who rushed for 167 yards. Johnson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 167 rushing yards.

West Valley pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.2 points on average over those games. As for Central Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

West Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 42-21 defeat against Lassen on the 24th. As for Central Valley, they have also already played their next game, an 8-7 victory against Yreka on the 24th.
