Soccer Game Preview: Cartersville vs. Woodland

The Cartersville Hurricanes will challenge the Woodland Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cartersville will be strutting in after a win while Woodland will be coming in after a defeat.

Cartersville's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Hiram with a sharp 5-0 victory. Cartersville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by four goals or more this season.

They hit Hiram with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Mallory Nicklas (2), Kiley McMichael (2), and Lundyn Eubanks.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten goals the game before, Woodland was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to Southeast Whitfield County. While losing is never fun, Woodland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Southeast Whitfield County are ranked 110th).

Cartersville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four games. Woodland's loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Everything went Cartersville's way against Woodland when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Cartersville made off with a 6-1 victory. Does Cartersville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
