Basketball Recap: Garner Takes a Loss

Garner lost against Perrin-Whitt back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Garner Longhorns were outmatched by the Perrin-Whitt Pirates and fell 98-21. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1259th, while the Pirates are ranked 401st).

Despite the loss, Garner still got an impressive performance from Payton Arms, who posted four points and 12 boards. Arms has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caidence Indra, who earned five points.

Garner's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9. As for Perrin-Whitt, they pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Garner will challenge Woodson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garner is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season. As for Perrin-Whitt, they will face off against Bryson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bryson will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Perrin-Whitt surely won't give up without a fight.
