Football Recap: Jonathan Alder Continues Home Dominance on Friday + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jonathan Alder had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies with a sharp 42-21 victory. 42 seems to be a good number for the Pioneers as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Jonathan Alder's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brock Hughes, who threw for 149 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes. Hughes also rushed for two rushing yards, marking his first of the season. Cashton Wheeler was Hughes' top target, picking up zero receiving yards.

Despite the loss, Johnstown-Monroe still got an impressive performance from Ryan Sager, who rushed for 187 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 56 receiving yards. Sager has become a key player for the Johnnies: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise. Luke Carter was another key player, rushing for 75 yards.

Jonathan Alder pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.1 points on average over those games. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they moved to 8-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Jonathan Alder will face off against Indian Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers will need to watch out since the Braves have now posted at least 31 points in their last eight contests. Johnstown-Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
