Grasso Tech is 0-10 against Wheeler since May of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Eagles will take on the Lions at 4:00 p.m. The last three games Grasso Tech has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Grasso Tech fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Norwich RVT on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 6-5.

PJ Evans put in work no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Evans wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reis Whitfield, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Wheeler hadn't done well against Plainfield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Grasso Tech, Wheeler also got a great game from a two-way player: James Main. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 18 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave Main a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Korbin Anderson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mason Perkins, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Wheeler is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Grasso Tech, their record is now 9-7.
Grasso Tech came up short against Wheeler when the teams last played back in May of 2023, falling 5-0. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
