Baseball Game Preview: Penns Valley Area Rams vs. Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils

The Penns Valley Area Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Penns Valley Area is looking for their season's first victory.

Penns Valley Area fell victim to Mount Union and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 6-0 to the Trojans. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly six runs.

Meanwhile, Bellwood-Antis had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They won by a run and slipped past Moshannon Valley 4-3.

Zach Gonzalez made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Curtis Shedlock looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Gonzalez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Dorminy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Bellwood-Antis' record now sits at 2-3. As for Penns Valley Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Penns Valley Area skirted past Bellwood-Antis 9-7 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Penns Valley Area since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
