Golden Plains's Andrew Luna rumbled for the longest rushing play in Western Kansas Liberty (8 Man) this season in his game against Wheatland-Grinnell last week. Luna's team fell to the Thunderhawks as he sprinted for 74 yards on the play and finished with 160 in all.
Triplains/Brewster's dynamic duo of Ryan Gfeller and Nathan Jorgenson proved tough for Heartland Christian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gfeller threw for 166 yards and three touchdowns and Jorgenson had 115 yards receiving. Michael Schmidt helped Triplains/Brewster's passing attack out by catching one ball for 35 yards.
Jorgenson made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Titans lost to the Crusaders. The 5-foot-11 junior grabbed one interception.
Wade Buck was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 247 yards on 33 carries as Wheatland-Grinnell fell to Heartland Christian. Teammate Austin Lager added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.
Weskan's Samuel McKinney and Hayden Walker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. McKinney has thrown for 1150 yards this season, while Walker has 30 catches for 733 yards. Luna from Golden Plains leads the league in rushing with 1187 yards.
Northern Valley's Hunter Chandler is a mere 80 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 134 carries Chandler has accumulated 920 yard this year.
A big matchup in Western Kansas Liberty (8 Man) this week will be when Cheylin takes on Tony Stramel's team. As it stands, the Cougars are in fourth, while the Titans are in fifth.
Triplains/Brewster led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Triplains/Brewster.
