Softball Recap: Bearden Takes a Loss

Bearden was the 14-5 winner over Hardin Valley Academy when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs came up short against the Hawks on Thursday, falling 16-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered against the Hawks since March 28, 2023.

Bearden saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Hauge, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Hauge is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Megan Lawson was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Bearden has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Hardin Valley Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-16.

Looking ahead, Bearden will square off against Christian Academy of Knoxville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hardin Valley Academy, they will be playing at home against Lenoir City at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
