Basketball Game Preview: Santa Fe Chiefs vs. California Condors

Santa Fe is 2-8 against California since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Santa Fe Chiefs will square off against the California Condors at 5:15 p.m. Santa Fe is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.

Santa Fe will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating La Serna, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Santa Fe managed a 49-43 win over La Serna on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for California, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took down Whittier 60-41 on Friday. Given the Condors' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 712th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Santa Fe pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for California, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Santa Fe strolled past California in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a score of 56-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Santa Fe since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
