The Master's Academy Eagles will challenge the Trinity Prep Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Master's Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
If Master's Academy beats Trinity Prep with ten runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Everything went the Eagles' way against Geneva on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-1 win. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.
Julian Mercado made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Mercado was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other pitching news, Preston Toth looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Trey Seluk, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cy Smith, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Master's Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Trinity Prep's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Orangewood Christian on Tuesday. The Saints skirted past Lake Highland Prep 7-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Trinity Prep pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Master's Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
Master's Academy skirted past Trinity Prep 5-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
