Basketball Recap: Maecy Hinkebein's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Pius X over St. Teresa's Academy

St. Pius X lost against St. Teresa's Academy back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. Pius X Warriors fell to the St. Teresa's Academy Stars 42-36. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th in Missouri, while the Stars are ranked 26th in Missouri).

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maecy Hinkebein, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Hinkebein a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Sell, who posted seven points.

St. Teresa's Academy was led to victory by Jazlyn Rhodes and Mabel Bland. Rhodes earned 22 points, while Bland put up nine points and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Nora Roddy, who had four points and seven rebounds.

St. Pius X's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for St. Teresa's Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
