Taft is 7-2 against Payton College Prep since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Taft Eagles will square off against the Payton College Prep Grizzlies at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Taft has three straight wins, Payton College Prep has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Wednesday, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Taft made off with a 42-41 victory over Westinghouse.

Meanwhile, Payton College Prep was beaten by Kenwood 89-24 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 475th, while the Broncos are ranked sixth).

Taft's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15. As for Payton College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.

Everything came up roses for Taft against Payton College Prep when the teams last played back in November of 2023, as the squad secured a 52-24 victory. Will Taft repeat their success, or does Payton College Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
