Basketball Recap: Heartland Comes Up Short

In Monday's Canine Competition, Heartland had to take the L. They took a hard 56-38 fall against the Osceola Bulldogs on Monday. The Huskies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 50-34.

Despite the defeat, Heartland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ariane Sololuze posted 11 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Hallie Tessman was another key player, putting up six points.

Osceola's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bella Recker, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 22 boards. Those 22 rebounds gave Recker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Theis, who scored 21 points.

Heartland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for Osceola and bumps their season record up to 11-11.

Heartland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Osceola, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-53 loss against High Plains on the 18th.
