Baseball Game Preview: Scranton Knights vs. Delaware Valley Warriors

The Scranton Knights will square off against the Delaware Valley Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Wednesday, Scranton came up short against Valley View and fell 8-4.

Joe McIntyre made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Delaware Valley had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Buckhorns.

Tim Jason was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

In other batting news, Londyn Hernandez and Frank Pedone did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Pedone went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Hernandez a new career-high. Liam Onofry was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Delaware Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory got Delaware Valley back to even at 6-6. As for Scranton, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Scranton skirted past Delaware Valley 8-6 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
