Preview: Bonneville Lakers vs. Woods Cross Wildcats
Bonneville has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Woods Cross Wildcats at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bonneville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Monday.
Last Monday, Bonneville came up short against Cyprus and fell 64-52.
Despite the defeat, Bonneville had strong showings from Sidnee Geerdes, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds, and Whitni Johnson, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Moss, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Woods Cross suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 74-53 walloping at the hands of Bountiful. While losing is never fun, Woods Cross can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Bountiful is ranked seventh).
Bonneville's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Woods Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Bonneville came up short against Woods Cross in their previous meeting on January 3rd, falling 49-38. Can Bonneville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
