Football Game Preview: Raritan Rockets vs. Holmdel Hornets

The Raritan Rockets will square off against the Holmdel Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Raritan took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Asbury Park with a sharp 43-19 victory.

Meanwhile, Holmdel made easy work of Marlboro on Friday and carried off a 47-21 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hornets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Mustangs are ranked 129th).

Holmdel's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Raritan, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Raritan suffered a grim 56-31 defeat to Holmdel in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Hornets' Jack Cannon, who rushed for 168 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, and also threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns while completing 89.5% of his passes.
