Basketball Recap: Yerington Lions vs. Sierra Lutheran Falcons
The Yerington Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Sierra Lutheran at home to the tune of 72-31. Yerington pushed the score to 57-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons had no chance of recovering from.
Yerington was led to victory by Kp Picotte jr and Colby Rowe. Picotte jr scored 18 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while Rowe scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Picotte jr is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Juarez, who scored nine points along with seven assists.
Despite the loss, Sierra Lutheran still got an impressive performance from Marcus Jones, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Yerington is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Sierra Lutheran, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yerington won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Lakers at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th. North Tahoe has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 260 points over their last four contests. As for Sierra Lutheran, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nighthawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Silver Stage is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
