It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lansing had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down the Eudora Cardinals 37-19.
Lansing's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Pollard, who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 29 yards and a touchdown. Aj Allen also helped out with an impressive 85 receiving yards.
Lansing's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. It was truly a group effort as Eli Mathis, Aden Leftwich, and Ayden Ellington picked up two apiece. Mathis is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. Noah Mathis was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Lansing now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Eudora, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-5.
Lansing wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 23-15 win against Atchison on the 8th. Eudora does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
