Softball Recap: Danvers Drops Highest Score of Season Against Swampscott

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Danvers). Everything went their way against the Swampscott Big Blue on Wednesday as they made off with an 18-1 victory. With that win, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Skylar Coakley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Coakley was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Lila Flynn was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Addi McCarty, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Danvers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Danvers and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Swampscott, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Danvers will be playing in front of their home fans against Beverly at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Swampscott, they are taking a road trip to challenge Winthrop at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
