Recap: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Hazen Highlanders

The Mercer Island Islanders won the last time they faced the Hazen Highlanders, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Mercer Island walked away with a 60-48 win over Hazen. Given Mercer Island's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Hazen is ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mercer Island's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Will Mcdonald, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Mcdonald, who scored 14 points.

The victory makes it two in a row for Mercer Island and bumps their season record up to 10-5. As for Hazen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Mercer Island will look to defend their home court on Friday against Glacier Peak at 7:15 p.m. As for Hazen, they will head out on the road to face off against Interlake at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Interlake's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
