Recap: The Classical Academy Titans vs. Mitchell Marauders
The Classical Academy Titans can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mitchell 63-17 at home. Given The Classical Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Mitchell is ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alaina Bonacquista was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 21 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Peterson, who scored eight points along with 13 steals and six assists.
The Classical Academy pushed their record up to 15-5 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.1 points per game. As for Mitchell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.
The Classical Academy will be playing at home against Sand Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully The Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
