Basketball Game Preview: La Pietra vs. Hawaiian Mission Academy Knights

La Pietra is 0-10 against Hawaiian Mission Academy since January of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. La Pietra will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Hawaiian Mission Academy Knights at 6:30 p.m.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 39-8, which was the final score in La Pietra's tilt against Kaimuki last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Hawaiian Mission Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Andrew's Priory on Monday, taking the game 41-33.

Hawaiian Mission Academy found their leader in freshman Kelis Tavares, who went 8 for 19 on her way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Kaneshiro, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

La Pietra's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Hawaiian Mission Academy, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

La Pietra was taken down by Hawaiian Mission Academy 41-13 when the teams last played back in January. Thankfully for La Pietra, Shynastee Ahina (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
