Basketball Game Preview: Jeff Davis Yellowjackets vs. Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane

Jeff Davis hasn't had much luck against Fitzgerald recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Jeff Davis Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to challenge the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane at 3:00 p.m.

On Friday, Jeff Davis came up short against Thomasville and fell 48-41.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Malachi Smith, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of J'Varis Bryant, who put up eight points.

Meanwhile, Fitzgerald strolled past Bacon County with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 80-61. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Purple Hurricane.

Fitzgerald pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Jeff Davis, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.

Jeff Davis lost to Fitzgerald on the road by a decisive 46-30 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Jeff Davis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
