Volleyball Recap: Hayden Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Saint Thomas Aquinas

Hayden faced Saint Thomas Aquinas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wildcats fell 2-0 to the Saints. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Saints: they've now lost six in a row.

Hayden was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 16 points in every single set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-16.

Sophia Wichman paced Hayden's offense, picking up four kills. Wichman got some help from Blakely Walter and her ten assists. Mallory Tanking controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Hayden's defeat dropped their record down to 20-7. As for Saint Thomas Aquinas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.

Hayden wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Seaman on the 9th. As for Saint Thomas Aquinas, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Olathe West on the 11th.
