Baseball Recap: Woodridge Comes Up Short

Woodridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Norton Panthers. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Blake Pumper was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, Carter Maxa was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-6 with two stolen bases and one run. Tyrus Hartman was another key player, going 2-for-7 with two doubles and one RBI.

Woodridge's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Norton, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-2.

Woodridge has already played their next match, a 12-2 defeat against St. Vincent-St. Mary on the 6th. Hopefully Norton paid attention to the Bulldogs' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
